SUMMARY: Queens University of Charlotte seeks a dynamic and entrepreneurial fundraising professional to serve as Assistant Director for Athletic Advancement. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for University Advancement, with a dotted line to the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Director for Athletics Advancement will be a front-line fundraiser responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts in support of Queens University and its Royals Athletics Department.

This role will contribute directly to shaping the strategies and direction of athletic fundraising at Queens, with a focus on building a sustainable, donor-driven revenue stream to support student-athlete success, academic achievement, and the continued growth of Queens’ NCAA Division I programs.

This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible to earn overtime pay or compensatory time off for additional hours worked. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Fundraising Strategy and Execution:
    1. Manage all aspects of planning, implementing, and executing athletic fundraising strategies to achieve individual and team fundraising goals.
    2. Establish and manage a robust portfolio of individual major and leadership annual giving prospects to secure significant philanthropic support, including five-figure gifts and above.
    3. Collaborate with Associate VP to develop a pipeline of major and transformative gift prospects.
  • Annual Giving and Donor Engagement:
    1. Create and execute a comprehensive annual fund strategy for athletics with a strong emphasis on donor acquisition, retention, and upgrade.
    2. Craft creative, informative, and persuasive messaging and videos in support of annual giving initiatives for assigned teams and the broader athletics program.
  • Donor Cultivation and Stewardship:
    1. Capitalize on the momentum of Queens' reclassification to NCAA Division I to cultivate relationships with alumni, parents, friends, and surrounding community members (including the Myers Park neighborhood).
    2. Represent Royals Athletics at meetings, games, events, and other functions to build relationships with and steward donors.
    3. Travel as needed to cultivate donors and attend away games, tournaments, and donor meetings.
  • Athletics Program Integration:
    1. Become immersed in the needs, priorities, and strategic goals of Queens Athletics.
    2. Maintain a master calendar of athletics advancement events in collaboration with Athletics and Advancement teams.
  • Data Management and Reporting:
    1. Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and activities in the Slate CRM database.
    2. Prepare timely and detailed call reports documenting donor engagement. Training in all software systems will be provided.

Non-Essential Duties

  • Other duties and special projects may be assigned to meet department and university needs.

Experience, Knowledge & Skills Preferred

  • Minimum of five years of athletics, development, or related work experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication, organizational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Capacity to understand and effectively communicate the value of NCAA Division I athletics at an academically rigorous liberal arts university.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Seven or more years of development or related work experience.
  • Career experience that includes oversight of major projects and contributions to strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Proven success in soliciting and securing major gifts, including five-figure commitments and above.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
