DESCRIPTION OF WORK


In this role, you will carry out both routine and specialized tasks related to welding repair and fabrication. Your responsibilities will encompass welding, brazing, soldering, cutting, tempering, and shaping both ferrous and non-ferrous metals using various techniques, including acetylene, arc, tungsten inert gas (TIG), and metal inert gas (MIG) welding, along with other relevant shop equipment. You will be tasked with laying out materials and equipment, determining the appropriate processes for fabricating parts, and executing the cutting, shaping, welding, and repair of metal structures for diverse applications. Additionally, you will guide and demonstrate welding-related tasks to other trades and maintenance personnel. This work will be performed independently, with progress and final results being reviewed to ensure compliance with established guidelines and quality standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures; or
  • Completion of a three-year, high school Vo-Tech training program in welding and eighteen months of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures; or
  • Completion of an approved welder apprentice program; or
  • A welding certificate D1.1 from the American Welding Society; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
